As things get closer and closer to starting production, more and more news is coming out of the DC camp about the upcoming feature, The Suicide Squad. Director David Ayer has been all over Twitter and Instagram, dropping little tidbits about things we can expect to see. One of the most recent pictures was a shot of some binder spines, each one emblazoned with a very familiar symbol, that of Arkham Asylum. You don’t need to read too much into this to realize that this is where we will meet the new Joker, played by Jared Leto. Throw in the fact that Harley Quinn, one of the movies major players, started as a doctor in Arkham and first met “Mr. J” while working there, I think its safe to assume this is where he’ll come in. There was also some casting updates, letting us know that both Scott Eastwood and Raymond Olubowale have signed on to the cast. Right now we don’t know who they are playing, but I imagine we’ll be finding out more sooner than later.

Awesome HD Update to Classic Mario 64

Back in 1996, Nintendo released one of its most popular games, Super Mario 64, for one of its most popular systems, the Nintendo 64. Of course, that was 1996, and the phrase “high definition” really did not exist yet. Flash forward almost 20 years and enter the Wii U, the first ever high def system for Nintendo. As the Wii U is still pretty new to the market, there really aren’t a whole lot of high def Mario games kicking around. Fortunately, a computer science student decided to remedy that. Using Mario to test out a new piece of software he created, he created a high def version of one of the levels from Mario 64. What’s even better? You can play it online, provided you’re ok with downloading a specific add-on. You can play it here.

Arya Stark Gets All Timey Wimey

Doctor WhoIt’s not all that often when two of my very different, yet very favorite worlds collide. When it happens though, I get a little giddy. It was announced today that Arya Stark herself, Maisie Williams, will be appearing in series 9 (yes, they call them series, not seasons) of Doctor Who. No word yet on what her role will be or how many episodes she’ll be in, but showrunner Steven Moffat claims “she will be challenging the Doctor in unexpected ways.” She has almost a young Clara Oswald look to her, so I’m personally wondering if that may be who she plays.

Halo 5 Puts Out Two Trailers for it’s #HuntTheTruth Ads

downloadThe viral marketing for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians release is picking up speed with the release of these two trailers. While there is no actual game play featured in these ads, there are some hints at the plot and possibly the game play. The first trailer reveals a new character, a Spartan named Locke and plays out from his perspective. Locke believes the Master Chief to be a traitor and believes it’s his duty to bring him down. The second trailer plays from the perspective of the Master Chief and is a little more mysterious, simply having the Master Chief tell Locke that his mission is over, but the Chief’s is just beginning. The feeling of these trailers is that Halo 5 might just play through multiple character story lines, giving different perspectives on the same story, very similar to Gear of War: Judgement. Hopefully this is received better than Judgement was…

Daredevil TV Spot and Character Posters

daredevilFor me personally, the one TV show I am looking forward to the most this year is the release of the new Daredevil series. If not for Age of Ultron, this would be the Marvel thing I am looking forward to the most. The trailers released by Netflix so far have shown that this show will be dark, gritty, and full of action. With the cast they have put together, I imagine this show is going to be amazing. Check out the new trailer and character posters below. I’m fairly sure you’ll agree.

Deadpool Plot Details

deadpoolmovieWhile we don’t have a ton of details about the upcoming Merc with the Mouth movie, more and more are leaking out as the weeks go by. A few days ago, we had a first look at the whole package, the suit the ‘Pool will wear in the movie and it looked spot on. Today, an official Deadpool movie Twitter account was launched as well as the official Deadpool movie website. On the website, the main plot of the movie was released:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

I’m sure people will lose their minds having to watch another origin story, but this one has to have it. This is one character where people will need to know how he came to be. It’s especially more important to wipe away that god awful origin from Wolverine: Origins. It’ll take some pretty strong story to wash away THAT stank, but I’m fairly confident this movie will handle it.

Constantine Showrunner to Pitch Season 2

While Constantine started somewhat slow, I truly believe it picked up in a big, big way as the season went on. If you didn’t give it a chance beyond the first two episodes, shame on you. You missed out. Now, because of the slow start, Constantine it more or less on life support with no real signs whether it will get renewed for a 2nd season, or whether NBC will just pull the plug. There has been a fan movement to petition NBC to save the show, but the question remains: is that fan base strong enough to make it happen? We’ll find out for sure at the end of April. I, for one, really hope it does get picked up. I would love to see where it goes next.
