Geek News of the Day 04.29.15

Lovely People! It’s the Big Boss here bringing you the good geek news of the day for April 29th, 2015. It’s been a little bit since we hit you with some news items, so we have to make up for lost time. There’s a lot going on and my attention span is limited, so let’s dive in!

Buttering up Spiderman

Asa Butterfield
Asa Butterfield

Starting off our news today is some good ol’ fashioned Spidey rumors. Remember that list of 6 Spidey hopefuls we sent you last week. Well it looks like we’re hearing from Latino-Review that Asa Butterfield is the front-runner of the 6. This would work out in their favor because Butterfield is probably the youngest looking out of the bunch. Even though he’s 18, the Ender’s Game star could pull off a much younger age and that works in Marvel’s favor. He’s old enough to not be a newb but fresh-faced enough to play Spidey for a long time. This is all rumor at the moment so when we get solid information to you.

One Jacked Joker

letoLooks like the latest Suicide Squad rumors are centering around the Crown Prince of Crime. Latino-Review is saying that supposedly Ben Affleck was seen on the set of the Suicide Squad so we may see him in it or the Joker may appear in Batman V. Superman in a possible flashback scenes that shows the death of Jason Todd’s Robin at the hands of the Joker in a gruesome beating. If (and a serious If) this is the case, then that would be a big deal in the fact that Batman’s story will be a bit darker this time around.

To go along with this news as well is the fact that Jared Leto has been showing his fans glimpses of his portrayal of joker in the upcoming film. This particular image shows the actor has indeed been “shootin’ in the gym”. His Joker will not only be psychologically menacing but he will have a physicality to match. Most may find this bothersome but I think it’s a refreshing take on the villain and will set Leto apart from those before him. He’s filling some big shoes so he’s got to go all the way in.

I Love The 80s!

Fresh images from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse are coming in and this is with the young generation of X-Men coming into the fray. Here we have:   Lana Condor As Jubilee

Sophie Turner As Jean Grey

Kodi Smith-McPhee

Deathnote’s New Direction

Death_NoteIf you’re like me, then you are a big fan of Anime, and if you’re a fan of Anime then you must have come across Death Note in your travels. Death Note centers around a highschool student, Light Yagami, and his finding of supernatural notebook that gives its wielder the power to kill anyone as long as they know their name and face. The series itself plays out much like a horror film and it’s only right the Director Adam Wingard has won the position of director. He’s brought some heaving hitting flicks to the big screen (i.e. The Guest, V/H/S, and You’re Next) so it’s a breath of fresh air to hear that he’s taking on the large anime series and bringing it to film. Swapping Out The Shredder

Brian Tee
Brian Tee

For the fans that saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we all saw the hulking character who was the shredder give the Turtles a good run for their money in the film. You’ll also note that the role was played by Tohoru Masamune. When the sequel hits theaters, however, the blades will be donned by none other than, Brian Tee (The Wolverine, Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, Jurassic World). This leads me to believe we may start getting some flashback into Shredder’s History. We’ll want to see him young and want to see what set him on his path and Tee has a good time with these kinds of characters so it’ll be interesting to see what he’ll bring to the fun film.

That’s it for Geek news of the Day today folks, Stay tuned because Friday we’re hoping to bring you a tasty audio review of the Avengers: Age of Ultron
