SPOILER ALERT. If you haven’t yet watched the season finale of The Flash you may want to skip past this bit of news.

Movie News

Magnificent Seven’s Villain

MV5BMjE0Mjg0NzE2Nl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDE1MTkxMw@@._V1__SX1102_SY725_In casting news, Variety is stating that Magnificent Seven remake is gaining it’s villain in Peter Sarsgaard (*Pirate Voice* Aaarrrrgh!!!!). I’m a big Western fan (they were the superhero movies before superhero movies), so this news is great to me especially since the original film is a imagining of one of my favorite films ever Seven Samurai.

Sarsgaard joins a phenomenal cast that includes Denzel Washington (“The Equalizer”), Chris Pratt (“Jurassic World”), Vincent D’Onofrio (“Daredevil”), Ethan Hawke (“Boyhood”), Byung-hun Lee (“Terminator: Genysis”), and Matt Bomer (“Magic Mike XXL”).

I can promise you this film is going to be classic. I hope they do just a one an done deal with the story but since franchising is the thing now, that may not happen.

Deadpool Marketing Rampage Continues

There’s not much I can say about this, but Ryan Reynolds has been doing a bang up job advertising the Deadpool film. His latest effort is subtle and tons of fun take a look with the caption below.

Not nearly as profound as watching underwater lava… but if you stare at this electronic fire long enough, you’ll eventually have no idea you’re peeing.

The Crow Remake Has Founds It’s Villain

Andrea Riseborough

In casting news, The Crow remake is slowly but surely coming together. After loosing Luke Evans as Eric Draven, the film was able to recoup by casting Jack Huston (The Boardwalk Empire). It appears they may have also found their villain as well. Deadline is breaking that Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion, Birdman) is currently in talks to play the main villain, Top Dollar, in the film based on James O’Barr’s graphic novel. Top Dollar has been adapted since the characters original incarnation as just small time drug dealer to the head of a major crime syndicate. In the 1994 adaptation, the role of Top Dollar was played by Michael Wincott (geeks may remember him from Count of Monte Cristo or the Game Darksiders II as the voice of Death). We’ll get this film eventually, and I really can’t wait.

Batkid: Begins Hits You  Right In The Feels

This is what being a geek is all about. Every once in a while we remember why it is we fell in love with these worlds as children and keep them close as they grow with us. The geek world provides a freedom to enjoy the wonder and hope that these characters bring. Despite having these amazing abilities, these characters are relatable and in Batkid: Begins, one child uses the hope and power he received from one superhero in particular (Batman) and has a wish come true.

San Francisco helped (through the Make a Wish Foundation) a young boy with Leukemia transform the city into Gotham City and gave him the opportunity to live out a day saving the people of Gotham as Batman. The events were put together in this documentary and the result is amazing. Take a look. I dare you not to feel it.

Captain America: Civil War – More Set Photos

More set photos from Civil War are coming from Latino-Review. There’s a lot to show so I’m going to leave you with the link alone for that one. A lot of folks would consider that spoiler territory so click at your own risk. I just think it’s fun to watch these storytellers stitch a good show together.

Marvel & McConaughey

td-624-1393868124RUMOR MILL: YouTube Channel The Hashtag Show is reporting that Marvel is in talks with Matthew McConaughey to play the Norman Osborn for the new Spiderman. McConaughey would bring Award-winning talent to the Marvel brand. My thoughts on this though is that the only thing that has been confirmed, by McConaughey himself is that he’s speaking to Marvel about potentially working on a project with them. This project is unknown, so saying that he would be playing Norman Osbourne is a stretch right now. This is crazy good news though to hear that we could see McConaughey in a Marvel film, but since nothing is confirmed we’ll continue to keep this on the rumor mill and update you as we gather more information.

Gaming News

Be The Batman

A new trailer has hit for Batman: Arkham Knight and it’s looking delicious. I can’t wait for this game. It’s the primary reason I plan on making the update to next-gen. Take a look at this trailer that serves as a call to arms for Batman fans. Hopefully no one does anything reckless as a result of this.
