Radcliffe Steps out with Horns

Horns
What if you woke up with these bad boys on your head?

You get sick for a few days and you miss everything, eh? Hey folks, Big Boss here with something a little different… A Monday Movie Review!!! I managed to get a hold of Horns, an indie flick starring  Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple. In the aftermath of his girlfriend’s mysterious death, a young man awakens to strange horns sprouting from his temples (IMDB).

I was down for a few days and wasn’t able to get out to take a look at last week releases. Thought I’d give this one a look over, because I couldn’t go anywhere else. I was interested in this movie for two reasons: 1.) The trailer had me with the story. I had to find out what happened and how deep the rabbit hole went with it. 2.) Daniel Radcliffe has been a bit silent since Harry Potter. Although he’s had a few pieces come out since the Harry Potter series, he’s been recently gaining momentum with Kill Your Darlings, so we might be seeing a bit more of him.

hornsFirst off, this was definitely an interesting mystery film. Although it’s categorized as a drama-fantasy movie, it pulls off a bit of mystery as you follow Ig Parish (Radcliffe) down this path to discover the real killer of his girlfriend (Juno Temple). Without giving you too much, It’s really an interesting story of how a man can fall from grace when his meaning is lost, and, quite frankly, Radcliffe is pretty “G” in this movie.

hornsWhat I liked most about the movie is it flips a lot of conventional story telling on its head and takes what seems at first to be a boy meets girl story and twists it and warps into a drama that pulls from its cast. You think you know these characters and as the story gets deeper, what you think you know is brought into question. The movie releases in theaters on October 31, with a limited theater release. So, if you can find a theater that’s showing it near you, take a friend and enjoy this one. It’ll definitely have you talking, and that’s what good film is all about.
