The Maze Runner

Hope you’re enjoying the weekend, all! Got a chance to watch some flicks the other day, and I just wanted to share with you what’s out and worth a look over. If you’re looking for a movie with an interesting plot and fresh cast, I’d suggest The Maze Runner, starring  Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter.

From the Dystopian Bag O’ Tricks

There’s two major movie bandwagon that are currently taking front page on the cinematic stage, and that’s the Young Adult Dystopian Future pic and the Superhero flick. The Maze Runner is a recreation of the young adult dystopian novel of the same name. It’s a story that, in my opinion, reminds me of elements from Lord of the Flies.

In the story, Thomas wakes up in the middle of a camp of boys in what is called “The Glades”. His memory is wiped and he doesn’t know who he is or where he’s come from. As adjusts to his new life he learns that he is now in the center of a maze and the boys have been trying for years to escape.

It’s All About the Talent

In a story like this, there is always the potential of telling a great story with the use of digital effects. The Maze Runner, although using digital effects, does a great job of telling this story effectively with the cast alone. Each one of these actors bring something special to the screen that’s adds to the intrigue of this story. The way the plot develops, it gives you an opportunity to associate and connect to each of the characters. This connection is what carries you along the film and makes you want more of this world.

A Movie With Excellent Replay Value

Overall, I say go see this movie. It’s worth the money for the ticket and provides an interesting character study for discussion. Some of you may not care as much about that but hey, who knows. If you’re a fan of the Hunger Games movies, this will be a great way to satiate your hunger (heh) till the new games comes out in November.
